‘A Song for Glasgow’ winner confirmed
Glasgow Life’s sound is part of our brand identity and when used consistently and effectively, it shapes the way we are perceived. We want to express our values through how we look, feel and sound.
We recently worked with Go Radio on a competition to find ‘A Song for Glasgow’ which can be used across Glasgow Life content to represent our brand and city as part of Glasgow Life’s overall brand strategy. In return, the campaign offered rising artists a chance to gain exposure by being featured on future Glasgow Life marketing campaigns.
The competition was launched to find a captivating song that encapsulates the essence and vibrancy of Glasgow. Our aim was to find a song with a real Scottish feel and lyrics that resonate with locals and visitors alike. The winning entry also had to fit in with Glasgow Life’s brand identity, which involves inclusivity, commitment and ambition.
Glasgow Life used Go Radio’s reach and industry contacts to run a competition for up-and-coming bands and artists to write ‘A Song for Glasgow’ that we will use as our signature sound for various outputs, including videos, social media assets and presentations.
The competition offered the winner:
- The opportunity to perform their song at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
- A feature on the Go Radio Breakfast Show with Crofty and Grado
- Five days’ studio time at the famous Gorbals Sound studios (used by some of Scotland’s best talent) with a studio engineer
- Exposure through the track being used by Glasgow Life in forthcoming campaigns, from films to social media and on advertising campaigns and at events
On Friday 19 April 2024, we launched our competition on the Go Radio Breakfast Show with Crofty and Grado. After being inundated with entries, we shortlisted our top 10 entries and asked Go Radio listeners to vote for their favourite.
On Tuesday 18 June 2024, the top five acts performed at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in front of a judging panel and guests.
After much deliberation, the judges chose Jamie Campbell with his song ‘Glasgow’ as the winner. Congratulations to Jamie and thank you to all who took part!
