A mixed bag of results from Yakima’s election on Tuesday

Did you vote in Tuesday’s special election? Over 44,000 ballots were mailed to Yakima Valley voters and the results are mixed today.

Some of the questions are too close to call until the election is certified

Levies due to close on roll call are in West Valley, Union Gap and Grandview, but voters approved of levy issues in Zillah, Highland, Wapato and Mt. Adams school districts. The levy in the Naches Park district was also adopted. Many districts were asking for ongoing levies to be renewed to help fund schools with no increases or changes. More ballots are expected to be counted today and every day until the election is certified on February 18. 22% of the ballots were counted on Tuesday, once the election count is complete, Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross expects a turnout of 34%.
