Callaway Fairway C Hyper Dry Double Strap Stand Bag Review

Callaway Fairway C Hyper Dry Double Strap Stand Bag Review

When considering the best standing bags on the market, weight is a key factor. One of the first things to notice right out of the box is that this is an incredibly lightweight bag. At just 4 lbs, it’s elegantly built and looks great. There are seven different colorways to choose from, but I tested the Black Camo/Royal version over multiple laps, using the GM testing method. I’ve always used a carry bag (usually a Ping Hoofer), so I was eager to see how this bag performed.

Being the Hyper Dry waterproof version of the Fairway C stand bag, it’s a more expensive option, but if you play in tough conditions and care about keeping your kit dry, it’s well worth the extra expense of researching the best bags. waterproof. This Callaway bag is 100% waterproof with sealed seams and zippers as well as minimal storage space to keep gear dry. The included rain cover attaches easily and further enhances waterproofing.

The 4-way top is compact but clubs go in and out fairly freely, padding around the top keeps the shafts well protected. The top, front, and bottom grab handles are sturdy and functional, but the umbrella holder is a little bulky – it’s a bit difficult to get the end of the umbrella through the bottom loop. The mount works well and seems pretty sturdy and a durable metal clip allows you to attach a towel, rangefinder, etc.

Where the bag falls a bit is in the storage. The capacity is correct for a bag of this type but accessibility is a problem. There are only four pockets and the ball pocket is a bit small. With raincoats in the side pocket, that means everything else has to go in the big front pocket – drinks, t-shirts, pens, pencils, hat – all mixed up – it can get quite a hassle. The velvet pocket for valuables is also quite difficult to put in place.

The Opti-fit strap system works well once you get the hang of the adjustments and the padding on the shoulders is excellent. The hip pad is a bit small and does not fully protect the left hip.

Overall this is a strong, functional and weatherproof golf bag that will protect your gear from the elements, but a few minor details let it down a bit.
