Henderson unveils ‘Greenprene’ neoprene-free wetsuit
Henderson unveiled a new suit at DEMA 2019 in Orlando. The new suit is the result of a secret project that Henderson started in 2014.
This new wetsuit is made from a 100% neoprene-free and durable plant-based insulating foam called Greenprene®.
The Henderson Greenprene® wetsuit is a true durable replacement for the traditional petroleum-based neoprene wetsuit. An all-plant insulating foam available in thicknesses from 1 to 7 mm.
Greenprene® has been tested and is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture as a bio-based and bio-preferred product.
The suit also uses recycled high elasticity Bio-Span ™ and Aqua-Silk ™ laminates, a durable and abrasion resistant outer fabric. Both fabrics are made from recycled plastic water bottles.
All Henderson Greenprene® coveralls are packaged with 100% recycled materials, which are printed with soy-based inks.
A video explaining Greenprene® and its development history can be seen here
The Greenprene® could very well be the biggest novelty of DEMA 2019, and possibly one of the biggest changes to thermal protection for divers, since the inception of the suit!
